| Jan. 18, 2008 | The Willits City Council unanimouly adopted the Ahwahnee Water Principles at the the council meeting on Jan. 9, 2008. These principles encourage water management strategies that incorporate resource efficient development, groundwater recharge, reduction of rainwater runoff through proper landscaping and stormwater management, water conservation technologies and strategies, and the use of graywater and recycled water - among other things. They were developed by the Local Government Commission with support from the California State Water Resources Control Board. For more information, visit their website. The principles also encourage a regional watershed approach and the participation of the public in water policy making. |
| Aug. 20, 2007 | Willits City Council asked to consider selling mining rights for gravel in the watershed. See article in the Willits News published on Aug. 15.
There will be a tour of the proposed gravel mine site on Aug. 29. The tour is not open to the public, but there is supposed to be a public meeting about the issue and to report on the tour the same day. Check at the city hall for time and location. |
